This presentation shares the results of a cost-benefit-analysis conducted in Washington State to determine the cost benefit to criminal justice agencies and healthcare systems of a state-wide expansion of access to treatment services for substance use conditions.
This presentation makes the case for state-wide expansion of access to treatment services for individuals with substance use disorders in Washington State. David Mancuso presents a cost benefit analysis, demonstrating that the expansion of access to treatment services for individuals with substance use disorders would lead to significant cost savings. The analysis looks at the costs to both physical health and the healthcare and justice systems of not treating substance use needs. Mancuso also highlights that under Health Care Reform, the expansion of Medicaid will be even costlier if this population does not receive adequate treatment.
